Age discrimination - understanding the changes
England Golf and the National Golf Clubs Advisory Association (NGCAA) has jointly produced guidance for golf clubs regarding the ban on age discrimination in the provision of goods, services and facilities under the Equality Act 2010 (the “Act”). The guidance is intended to help clubs better understand your responsibilities under the age discrimination provisions.
The provisions in Part 3 of the Act that relate to services, goods and facilities came into force on 1 October 2010. However, the provisions relating to age came into force on 1 October 2012. At the same time, the government brought into force specific exceptions from the ban, on which it consulted in 2011. These exceptions will be very important for golf clubs.
